Although I'm not one of the ppl posting flames on his page, I thot I'd point out sth that you may not have realized. I think ppl keep flaming him because he still hasn't admitted to tracing. Even now, he pretends to be the "hero". If he'd only admit to what he's done wrong and/or apologize for what he did, or at least stop trying to sound all innocent, ppl might just stop flaming him.

I think i understand you, but i always try to put in other situations and try to understand all things, then i make my own conclusions, anyway is better that when all this pass already, let it go.

I am sorry if i type too much, i dont know if it's a bad habit o i like to discuss (without bad intention) so much... i don't think is bad, but some poeple dont like to read and i can understand, but is better for me type long and try dont leave details.

Here in spain in scools have english and french subject, the problem is that the level is so poor, and in my case, when i was adolescent i skip english class, that's why i didn't know to talk english before (i did bad thing, as i said we can mistake).

Extremely long comments aren't good. Explanation is good, but something that takes me more than five minutes to read/reply to gets tedious and makes me want to punch people.

I never said you look stupid, I was using "you" generally, to mean any one person, and using it subjectively, to mean in that situation. I'm not sure what situation you, yourself, are even talking about really.

It's true people can make bad choices, but he had to know he was doing something wrong, he still did it anyway, and then he denied it even after people proved he did it. That's what I mean. He consciously decided he would try to cheat, so I can't have any sympathy for him. I do think it's a bit of a waste of time to yell at him now though, now that DA has taken some action (ever notice DA doesn't take action unless a large number of people complain about something?)...I think people just want him to admit it and apologize, but I don't think he'll do it. That's why people aren't forgiving him, because he won't admit he made a mistake. If he would just show that he realizes he did make a mistake and seem repentant, then stuff would cool down, I'm sure.

And...what? I never said English is the second language of Spain. I meant that it's obviously not your native language. A '"second language" is any language learned after your native language. There's no such thing as a "third language" or whatnot. So you can have multiple second languages. You do talk pretty well for someone who's never learned it in school though.

First off, other art thieves DO get attacked. You honestly think this guy is the first? The problem is FINDING THEM. This guy entered an official DA contest, so his picture was very publicized. Secondly, people DO complain about companies that do that sort of shit. I sneer at Disney all the time for copying other companies' ideas. You can't outright attack those companies though because...well, think about it. You can't just call up the head of the Disney corporation and bitch at him for taking an idea from somewhere else. Even if you could, they have billions of dollars and bunches of lawyers and can just tell you to piss off. Also, Disney and other places like that don't TRACE copyright images, especially not with the purpose of entering it into a contest to try to win money. If they would, there would be major scandals and lawsuits.

So yeah, if you try to do something about it, IN THE REAL WORLD, you look stupid.

But here's a heads up: This isn't the real world. This is a website for artists and art appreciators. He didn't try to use someone else's idea, he traced a copyright image and tried to make money off it. Worse yet, had no one called him out on it, it would've stayed the winner and would've represented a large chunk of the community. That is why people are so upset. No one wants an art thief representing them.

You think people are putting too much importance on this, but why? For some people, art is their life. So things art-related are VERY important to them. And the contest was to find a large chunk of the community, like I said, so yeah, it was important to people.

Pity doesn't help people. Ever. There's also a HUGE difference between making a mistake (as in, doing something by accident) and making a choice to do something wrong. Sure, in his situation, you would feel ashamed, but if you were him, you wouldn't have done it in the first place. He obviously doesn't feel ashamed because he won't admit to tracing even though people have proved that he did. That is why people are even more pissed off--if he would just say "Okay, you're right, I traced...it was wrong, and I'm sorry" then people wouldn't be nearly as upset.

If he changes, good for him, that's right. But that's not what we're talking about. We're talking about what he has done recently and no one's even harassing him, really. They're stating their opinions on his actions, which they are allowed to do. So far, I have yet to see anyone be anything but civil. Angry, yes, but they haven't thrown insults and curses at him. All people have said is the truth--that he traced, he keeps trying to hide the evidence, and that he should be ashamed of himself. He made the choice to do what he did, so he brought it on himself.

About what you said--no one read it most likely because you make your comments way too long. Shorten them, no one wants to read a damn novel. Also, that sentence doesn't make a lot of sense...now, I know you're from Spain and English is probably your second language, so you can't be faulted for it, but native English-speakers also can't be faulted when they can't understand what you're saying.

DA can't be blamed for this guy tracing, is what I am saying though. The anime it was traced from is obscure enough that I didn't even know it. DA takes some blame for not acting faster to disqualify the image and remove it from his account, and for choosing it as the winner in the first place, but not for the actual act of the thief. Finding out thieves is really the job of the people of the DA community. That's what the report violation buttons are for. However, I also think DA needs to improve some things...definitely.

Now, I don't condone people bashing others, but you seemed to not understand why they were doing it, which is why I felt the need to explain. I myself don't really get involved in this sort of thing usually, but I understand why other people get so upset...because it really is outrageous.

I didn't try to justify his action, i said so many times that i dont like it neither. I just try to say that if he do it and all people of DA attack him, why anyone attack the other "...."% that do the same too? Why dont attack to companys that steal things and steal the credits to the original autor? why dont complain about companys that when you do a work for them, they dont pay you? companys that copy and steal another works to others and have benefit with it?... Welcome to real world... it happen everyday in this kind of work/hobbie.

All these happen to me too, and complain all time, even if i did complain before, is completly useless, just make me looks stupid. I only can learn the leson and dont trust people easily. Anyway, i think this case, about this boy, is so less if you compare with other cases very worse, even if what he did was bad. I know that he got enough punishment already, we only need to see if he will change.

The question is that people, are giving too much importance to this, i know perfectly is bad, but i think that people can change and after see all things that people said about him in journals etc, i feel a bit pity for him, no because i think he did good thing, just because a lot of people in DA is still keeping this subject, and when i said people, i say too much people because you know as well as me that this is a really big community and here have people of all word. I try to put in his situation, in his situation i would be so a shame and if people attack this much maybe i can got a tauma... especially if my intention is change and dont do this never again.

If he change, good for him. You know, all people can mistake and no one is perfect, i know people that did this things, then... after mistake and do ridiculous in front some people they change this beharve, and i think that even in the past they did a bad thing, when they change is a good thing. Is the way that all people learn about own errors...

But, just in case that he dont change is his problem and he gonna make a worse image about himself.

It's only my opinion, and DA have a lot of things, no only this, that have to fix up. As i said too, they aren't perfect neither, and they mistake too. I dont gonna say the oposite just because they think good about me "bla bla bla"... i just try to be sincere because sometimes the critics help to improve.

DA isn't at fault for not watching every single anime on the planet. And no, I don't think he's had enough punishment. After all, he can very easily ignore all the comments he gets. He didn't even revoke his winnings until other people called him on it, and DA hasn't banned him or anything for it. I have no sympathy whatsoever for art thieves, especially ones who do this sort of thing. I really hate that attitude of "A lot of people do it" or "People have done worse", because that's a way to try to justify his actions. Just because other people have done it or others have done worse doesn't make what he did any less wrong, and there's a saying of "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime." He's had his action, these are the consequences, now he has to live with them and deal with them. If he doesn't like it, too damn bad, he shouldn't have done what he did. He doesn't seem particularly sorry or remorseful, so you know, I really don't think he cares all that much. But now people know his game, and it'll be harder for him to get away with it again.

Oh, I'm not even talking about what the community on a whole is doing to him - I don't agree with the massive amounts of flaming that is going on, as it should be dA (as in, the staff) that handles the situation, not the "vigilantes" of sorts.
